We will use the design process to construct a disco ball using reflective materials so that we can solve the real world problem of our classmate who needs a disco ball to have a disco party. This project took place in our Schluter STEAM Lab and each first grade class participated in the design and implementation a disco ball. We then came together to compare our disco balls and discuss our real world problem as well as boogie down during our disco party!

This is my informative speaking speech for speech and debate. The event informative speaking is a 10 minute speaking event about any topic I choose, and the purpose is to inform and entertain the audience with my speech while also having the option to use a prop as well. My actual speech is about the integration of music and medicine, and I use my ukulele to help get my ideas across to the audience.
After researching landforms in science and studying elements of poetry in ELA, students created an I Am Landform poem. Students then used RenderForest to present their poems, selecting a theme and music that fit the mood of their poem.
In band, we use Screencastify to record ourselves playing certain notes, lines, and songs. I have uploaded these videos to my ePortfolio and to Google Classroom for feedback. I want to show how I've grown throughout the year and some of the reflections that I've made. It has been fun recording myself and getting to hear myself play.
We want to teach people how to weave. Weaving is a good skill to have so you can make different things and you get to let you creativity flow! We learned how to weave in art class and now we want to share it with the world.
After completing an author study of Patricia Polacco, our students were posed with the problem that Tricia's Babushka, a main character in many of Polacco's books, is homesick. The students, in groups, had to research things that would remind Babushka of her homeland of Russia. After the completion of their research, student groups formulated a plan to construct and design their item that was significant to Babushka.
During the weekly composition club, we have learned basic composition skills. Using flat.io, we have composed a short tune. We will demonstrate the compositional process that we used and play our composition.

Students explore the close connection between math and art by analyzing the artwork of M.C. Escher and Sol LeWitt, by learning how Pixar uses math to animate, and then by trying their hand at animating grass. Students then use their knowledge of the parabolic arc along with an open-source program in SCRATCH to design their own Straight Line Artwork in string art.
On a visit to Australia I was given a digeridoo. This project explains what these are, how music is made with them, and why these are a sacred instrument of the aboriginal people.
Student used an online composition program to write a short musical excerpt and perform it on their instruments. Come hear these students explain their music composition process and performance using Flati.io. They used screencastify to record and explain their composition.
By using a digital blend tool, students created a hybrid animal, specifically a hawk with the head of a pit viper, and called it 'The Snawk.' Students will discuss the use of this resource and the creation process.
